The pictorial career of Teresa Vall Palou (Lleida, 1951) has been built on the margins of closed programs and any explicit stylistic dependence. However, her work dialogues with some of the most significant currents of 20th century abstraction. In her canvases, affinities with North American abstract expressionism and European informalism are perceived, understood not as direct affiliations, but as resonances that are activated by freedom and personal experience.

The CEART Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente presents, from February 27 to May 3, the exhibition Atmosferes cromaticas , a selection of recent works that focuses precisely on this enveloping and sensorial dimension of color. The inauguration will feature the participation of critic Fernando Castro Flórez, and the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Miguel Marcos Gallery and the Bonart magazine.

In Vall Palou's painting, one can trace a certain harmony with the heritage of Jackson Pollock's dripping , as well as with Mark Rothko's expansive conception of color fields. Some of his most recent proposals also evoke post-pictorial abstraction postulates, in particular the chromatic atmospheres developed by Morris Louis.

Beyond these affinities, the artist asserts an unmistakably unique voice. His work combines gesture, stain and graphics in a precise balance between impulse and control. Spontaneity does not exclude the conscious construction of pictorial space; on the contrary, it is integrated into a compositional architecture that intensifies the vibration of color. Each canvas thus becomes a field of energy and sensitivity, where chromatic passion articulates an immersive and profoundly contemporary visual experience.

Teresa Vall Palou's imagination is profoundly aquatic, in the sense that Gaston Bachelard gave it: a fluid territory where matter is transformed into dream and color acquires the cadence of breathing. Her canvases evoke both the incessant impulse of ocean waves and the concentric expansion of a calm pond, this trembling mirror in which the fragility of our existence seems to be reflected.

There is—if synesthesia is worth it—a secret music in these forms that fold and fold like slow dizziness. The surfaces vibrate with a contained harmony, but also with a subterranean heartbeat: the stubborn pulse of life that advances, that restless and that, despite everything, brings serenity closer. Each stroke is an oscillation between impulse and silence; each veil, a suspended breath.

His works reveal themselves as introspective landscapes, geographies of the soul where color constructs habitable atmospheres. They are not spaces to be observed from a distance, but to be traversed. In them, light clouds are formed, chromatic emanations that float between the aerial and the aquatic, as if sky and water converged in the same sensitive substance.

In this fusion of elements, Teresa Vall Palou finds in painting a vital space: a place to poetically inhabit the world, to transform matter into experience and gesture into intimate revelation.
