The Auditorium of the MAPFRE Foundation in Madrid hosted the presentation of issue 0 of bonart, the pilot publication of the new Spanish edition of the magazine. This issue marks a new chapter for bonart, which, after twenty-five years of history, takes a step forward to reach new audiences. This new stage is born with the desire to collect and amplify the multiple creative expressions that spring up throughout the State —from Zaragoza to Seville, from Madrid to Barcelona, passing through Bilbao, Valencia, Palma or Santiago de Compostela—, as well as to strengthen links with artistic scenes in Andorra, Portugal and, especially, Latin America.

The presentation event, yesterday, June 10, began with a guided tour of the current exhibitions of the MAPFRE Foundation, which include José Guerrero. A propósito del paisaje, Felipe Romero. Bravo and Nicholas Nixon. Las hermanas Brown (1975-2022). Afterwards, Ignacio González, representing the MAPFRE Foundation, and Ricard Planas, CEO of the Bonart group, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of this new editorial stage.

In his speech, Ignacio González highlighted “bonart's way of conceiving cultural and artistic communication”, emphasizing that “each issue is an exercise in visual experimentation”. Precisely, this desire for experimentation was evident in the projection that took place during the event, a piece of video art created by the artist Roc Parés, which collected the 200 covers published by bonart to date in a visual proposal that synthesizes the evolution of the magazine and its commitment to contemporary visual culture.

This was followed by a round table entitled Art and Communication, in which figures from the artistic world participated such as Luisa Espino, head of the Matadero Artistic Residency Center, and artists Eugenio Ampudia, Rosalía Banet and César Martínez, who spoke from Mexico. The debate allowed for the sharing of different perspectives on the challenges and possibilities that the dialogue between artistic creation and the media faces today.

With this issue 0, bonart begins a new editorial stage with the aim of becoming a tool for connecting between creators, institutions and diverse audiences, promoting a plural and decentralized view of contemporary art.
