Affluences and influences by Jesús Madriñán is the new temporary exhibition at the Ethnological Museum of Ribadavia that can be seen until September 28. A combination and binomial between the artist's Lanzarote series with photographs from the Ethnological Museum of the municipality of Ourense. A journey that arises from reflection on the dynamics of mobility in society and the exploration of how the movement of people affects the territory.
A movement that can happen due to migration or tourism with a series Lanzarote that could already be seen in the Trinta Arte Contemporánea gallery. His work combines photographic language with the pictorial tradition, challenging classic genres such as still lifes, landscapes and portraits. Madriñán creates compositions from an innovative approach and proposes to reconstruct styles with new forms of perception and creation.
Territorios en tránsito: Afluencias e influencias. Jesús Madriñán e a colección do Museo Etnolóxico
Recently, Jesús Madriñán has exhibited at La Térmica with a reflection on affective relationships in the era of dating applications and at the Ethnological Museum of Ribadavia, Ourense, showing isolated figures that highlight individuality, without indicating origin or gender. The artist's work offers a contemporary vision, studying the role of people, objects and landscapes in the reconstruction of cultural narratives.
The artistic genre that Madriñán has developed the most is portraiture, an area that he has managed to update and give its own and unmistakable character. His work is born from the subversion of studio photography, transcending its usual parameters to be nourished by the paradox derived from using traditional techniques (plate camera) in inevitably spontaneous and ungraspable situations.

The museum's images document sociodemographic changes in Galicia since the 19th century, observing the faces of emigrants and travelers, offering a historical perspective. A duality between artistic and documentary photography that is also present in Territories in transit: influxes and influences. Jesús Madriñán's photography functions as a memory and a tool for gaining knowledge of the present.
