Anton Casamor: emotion made into art

The Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the sculptor Anton Casamor (1926-1979), a key figure in 20th-century Catalan sculpture. The show presents a careful selection of works that reveal his fascination with form, space and matter. Beyond its artistic value, the exhibition takes on a deeply symbolic meaning since Casamor trained as an artist precisely in this space, and now his work returns there to invite us to connect with the sensitivity, strength and humanity that he knew how to transmit through each piece.

Born in Barcelona and linked from a young age to the Catalan sculptural tradition, Casamor enriched his vision with classical Mediterranean influences, especially following his stays in Italy and Paris. With a sculptural language that approaches Noucentisme, his style maintains a clear affinity with figures such as Eusebi Clarà and Aristides Maillol. His work stands out for the serenity and formal precision with which he approaches the female figure, converting simplicity into poetic expression.
