The Mallorca Museum hosts, from September 16 to October 25, 2026, Digital Splash , an exhibition by Fabrizio Plessi, the result of the collaboration between Es Baluard Museum and the Consell de Mallorca within the framework of BIENNIAL B. The proposal brings together a large video installation and a series of drawings under the title Black Splash , and allows us to approach an artistic trajectory in which historical awareness, memory and interest in natural elements coexist with a constant exploration of the possibilities of technology.

Water and fire have occupied an essential place in Plessi's imagination, which has transformed these elements into artistic and conceptual matter. His work moves between the physical dimension of materials and the immateriality of the digital image, between what can be touched and what can only be perceived. This tension is especially significant in Digital Splash , where technology does not appear as a simple formal resource, but as a tool to measure, occupy and interpret space and, at the same time, to interrogate the political and social background of the present.

In this universe, apparently constructed from a recognizable visual vocabulary, each element acquires a particular density. Plessi never renounces compositional balance or a precise awareness of style, but introduces into his works a sense of the unexpected that alters the expectations of the viewer. The encounter between image, object and space thus occurs as an open experience, in which physical perception ends up being transformed into a mental experience.

This issue is particularly evident in the Black Splashes , where the drawing becomes something more than a representation. The line, what has been erased, what has been splashed or what has been measured construct a cartography of the artist's thought. The physical dimension of the paper overflows its own limits and acquires an almost baroque intensity, like a continuous variation of the same signal that returns modified, fragmented and expanded.

The drawings thus function as a kind of translation of Plessi's inner landscape. The viewer is invited to reconstruct what does not appear entirely explicitly, to complete the dark and secret areas where an idea not yet revealed seems to be protected. Each layer is superimposed on the previous one in a process similar to that of an interstitial palimpsest, where the visible coexists with the traces of what is no longer there.

The video installation expands this reflection on a monumental scale. Large sheets of black iron fall and sprinkle the space in a thick, dense and fragmentary way, generating a sensation of movement that, despite its material forcefulness, maintains an almost virtual dimension. The work modifies the perception of architecture and introduces a spatial displacement in which the boundaries between object, image and environment become deliberately unstable.
