A nocturnal look at the Catalan peasantry from the art at MORERA
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Lleida is programming a new guided tour of the exhibition Contrapastoral. Art and Farming, which will culminate with a tasting of local products on the museum's terrace.
On Friday, August 7, the MORERA. Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Lleida will reopen its doors at night with a new guided visit to the exhibition Contrapastoral. Art and Peasants , a proposal that invites the public to discover the exhibition from a different perspective and in a unique environment.
Curated by Pau Minguet, the exhibition offers a journey through artistic representations of Catalan rural contexts from the late 19th century to the present day. Through paintings, photographs, installations and other visual languages, the show highlights the transformations of the agricultural world and the tensions that have marked the reality of farming over more than a century.
The exhibition project proposes a critical reading of the multiple problems that affect the Catalan agricultural sector, from rural depopulation and the economic crisis to environmental changes and new forms of production. Art thus becomes a tool to interpret the challenges that farming faces and to generate spaces for reflection on its role in contemporary society.
The evening will end with a tasting of local products on the museum terrace, a proposal that reinforces the link between culture, the territory and the primary sector, and that turns this night visit into an experience that goes beyond the exhibition tour.
