Albert Cano reinvents the image at La Tintoreria
The artist and graphic designer presents 'RE-VISTA' in Vic, an exhibition that turns collage and visual manipulation into an exercise in rereading the gaze and everyday images.
Years ago we came together around the work of Jordi Benito. That approach to his performances, installations and the overflowing energy that marked the career of the artist from Granollers between the seventies and his death also opened the door to discovering the creative universe of Albert Cano. Two different languages, but united by the same desire to go beyond the surface of images and to challenge the conventions of the gaze.
Albert Cano now presents RE-VISTA at La Tintoreria de Vic, an exhibition that can be visited until August 5 and that reaffirms an artistic practice based on the constant transformation of images. Through collage, visual manipulation and the recomposition of materials, the artist constructs new readings that invite the viewer to question the way they observe the world.
Cano's pieces often start from existing images that are fragmented, altered and reorganized until they acquire a completely new identity. The result is a work that does not seek to represent reality, but rather to reinterpret it, opening spaces for reflection on perception, memory and the mechanisms of the gaze.
In RE-VISTA , symmetry becomes a structural and poetic resource at the same time. Each composition poses a visual game in which the elements multiply, dialogue and transform, generating new forms and new meanings. The title of the exhibition also refers to this process: seeing again, reviewing and looking anew at what seemed familiar.
Without the need for an explicit discourse, Cano lets the images lead the visitor. The viewer is invited to enter a universe where collage transcends technique to become a language of its own, capable of suggesting multiple readings and establishing an active relationship with the viewer.
