Carlos Medina and Pedro Tagliafico trace the invisible paths of perception
Durban Segnini Gallery, in collaboration with Alonso Garcés Gallery, presents The Silent Paths , an exhibition that brings into dialogue the works of Venezuelan artists Carlos Medina (1953) and Pedro Tagliafico (1944-2020). The exhibition, which will be on view from April 11 to August 7, 2026, offers a journey through two singular artistic trajectories that explore the boundaries between the visible and the invisible, between physical presence and that which can only be intuited.
The exhibition coincides with the celebration of Carlos Medina's 50-year artistic career and recalls his first show with Galería Durban in Caracas during the 1980s. Through a selection of works by both artists, The Silent Paths establishes a dialogue around space, geometry, and art's capacity to suggest realities that escape immediate perception.
Medina's works are structured around almost immaterial elements that evoke invisible forces present in the universe. Since the 1970s, the artist has investigated the presence of neutrinos, elementary particles with almost no mass capable of passing through matter without leaving a trace. This scientific and poetic approach translates into spatial drawings, sculptures, and installations where matter becomes a fragile vehicle toward the intangible.
His spatial drawings and transparent interventions, such as Clouds and Rain , seek to represent what seems impossible to represent: energies, movements, and presences that remain hidden but are part of our experience of the world.
For his part, Pedro Tagliafico developed a constant investigation into the line as both a starting point and a limit. His geometric grids arise from a deliberate and repetitive process in which structures appear, transform, and disappear, generating spaces open to reflection. His compositions explore the relationship between order and emptiness, between construction and dissolution, in a continuous movement toward the idea of infinity.
The exhibition thus creates a space for quiet contemplation, where the works do not impose fixed meanings, but rather invite the viewer to discover silent paths. Medina and Tagliafico construct routes that are not explicitly marked, but emerge through intuition: subtle trajectories between form and its disappearance, between what is present and what remains hidden.
