The Ynglada-Guillot Prize is considered one of the most prestigious awards dedicated to artistic drawing in Catalonia and Spain. Born from the legacy of the artist and collector Francesc d'Assís Ynglada i Guillot, the prize was conceived with the aim of giving recognition to drawing as an artistic discipline with its own entity.
Initially promoted in close association with the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, the competition has evolved to become a reference call within the field of contemporary drawing. Currently, the award is presented under the name of the Antoni Vila Casas–Ynglada-Guillot Award, thanks to the collaboration with the Vila Casas Foundation, which has strengthened its scope and projection.
An open prize for contemporary drawing
The competition is held annually with the aim of promoting drawing in all its current diversity and complexity. It is aimed at both emerging artists and established creators, and seeks to recognize proposals that stand out for their quality, their capacity for experimentation and artistic research.
The competition highlights drawing as an autonomous creative language, capable of expressing both intimate processes and contemporary conceptual reflections.
Call for the LXIII International Drawing Competition 2026
The next edition, corresponding to the LXIII International Drawing Competition 2026, maintains the open and experimental spirit of the award. The submission period for works is established from May 4 to 17 .
The subject matter is completely free, which favors the diversity of artistic perspectives and discourses. The accepted technique is contemporary drawing in the broadest sense, including disciplines such as illustration, architectural drawing or comics.
Technique and requirements
The works must be made in black and white, on paper, using traditional drawing techniques. Works made with brush or pen and Indian ink are preferred. Other techniques such as pencil, fountain pen ink, ink, sepia or sanguine are also accepted.
This chromatic limitation reinforces the central idea of the award: to vindicate drawing in its purest essence, emphasizing the stroke, composition and expressiveness of the line.
A prestigious space for drawing
With a consolidated trajectory and growing visibility, the Antoni Vila Casas–Ynglada-Guillot Award has established itself as a key platform for the recognition of contemporary drawing. Its combination of academic tradition and openness to new artistic practices makes it an essential event in the current artistic panorama.
