Once again, the D'A Film Festival opened its doors to welcome, with the usual mastery, the most relevant within the current independent cinema panorama.

In this edition, the D'A Award was given to French filmmaker Mia Hansen-Løve, who has been very present at the festival since 2011, with Le Père de mes enfants . Tribute was also paid to Béla Tarr —a great reference author and winner of the D'A Honorific Award last edition— with the screening of The Turin Horse .

But this dialogue between generations does not end there. The opening film was Another Man , by David Moragas; an event that marked, from the beginning, the line of an edition focused on intimate and current stories. From there, the festival built its proposal on the dialogue between established filmmakers —Werner Herzog, with Ghost Elephants , or Claire Denis, with Le Cri des gardes— and new voices that are, in fact, the soul of the festival.

Along these lines, The Flight of the Stork , by Soumaya Hidalgo Djahdou and Berta Vicente Salas, won over the jury of Un Impulso Colectivo x DAMA; the Talents D'A Award went to Kingdom , by Michał Ciechomski; and the Audience x Campari Award for Best Feature Film went to Un mundo frágil y maravilloso , by Cyril Aris.

It is also worth noting that, although Marta Matute did not win any awards for her film Yo no moriré de amor , it made such an impression on attendees after its screening that word of mouth caused the festival to organize a second screening of the film.

Furthermore, this year, the Focus section was dedicated to Christian Petzold, with a review of his work and the presentation of his new film Espejos No.3 , thus placing the director within the context of contemporary European cinema. The German filmmaker also gave a master class aimed at young film students and focused on the importance of starting films from doubt and not from exposition.
