Isabel Rabassa's deep introspection in La Plataforma

Art as renaissance: Caverna, the new stage of Isabel Rabassa.

Isabel Rabassa's deep introspection in La Plataforma
bonart barcelona - 21/08/25

Intimate, essential, free language. Artist Isabel Rabassa presents at the La Plataforma Caverna gallery an exhibition consisting of thirty recent paintings, the result of a creative process developed over more than three years. The show proposes an intimate and symbolic exploration that gives shape to an inner journey of transformation.

Back from vacation, there will be a few days left to enjoy this color as a vital affirmation. Moving away from the explosive expressiveness of previous works, Rabassa adopts a more contained language, where monochromaticism, silence and shadow pave the way for new forms of expression. The first works in the series, of almost absolute black, reveal timid glimmers of light. Gradually, colors and shapes emerge, evoking nature, animals and human figures, like a symbolic rebirth that contrasts with the initial darkness.

Within the framework of the Art Nou 2025 circuit and curated by Matías Krahn Uribe, where you can contemplate an Isabel Rabassa whose color has once again emerged over time. From the darkness emerge figures, animals and mirrors that announce a rebirth both pictorial and vital. The exhibition thus becomes the threshold between two worlds: the deep and the apparent, the contained and the revealed.

Curator Matías Krahn Uribe interprets this journey as an intense immersion in the territories of the psyche and the unconscious, a path that unfolds without a prior map and that is guided exclusively by intuition. According to him, this process reveals a vital dimension that draws from the most primal instinct, but which at the same time manifests itself with a refined and nuanced sensitivity, thus configuring a creative stage marked by strength, depth and subtle sophistication.

“From those icy and mysterious monochromes, which we will take time to understand and appreciate, from the dim light of the spectral reflections in the water of the cave, color, dawn, birds, horses, animals and figures gradually appeared. The darkness began to reflect shadows within shadows, acquiring an unprecedented vitality. The brushstrokes began to play. Before entering this symbolic cave, for her to sit down to paint small formats with delicacy would have been like an electric chair, just like torture to reduce the formats, change brushes, palette and materials. I am a witness to her research as a painter and as a friend, and I consider this work to be exceptional in these times full of impostures, copies, retouches and artificial intelligence.” Matías Krahn Uribe
