The CCCB , MACBA and the Liceu collaborate for the first time in a project that combines music, art and thought to reinvent traditional opera through Microoperas d'avui, a project that opens up to new narratives and formats, transforming the classical conception of opera and exploring the limits of the genre.

This project was born with the desire to connect three major cultural institutions in Barcelona and offer a contemporary reflection on urgent issues such as the relationship between humans and nature. The CCCB Theatre, the MACBA Convent dels Àngels Chapel and the Liceu Foyer Hall will become the settings for an artistic itinerary that aims to be a journey of emotional exploration and collective reflection. These three newly created micro-operas, each commissioned by a different artistic team, form a three-act tour, which can be seen consecutively on February 8 and 9, offering a reflection on the beauty and fragility of the natural world, as well as on the role of art as a space to imagine possible futures.

The first micro-opera, El cel no es guardará el secret, rethinks the way we relate to beauty and art. With an experimental format, this piece at the CCCB will be an intimate dialogue between two voices that travel through life stages, from childhood to old age. The creators Pol Guasch , Clara Aguilar and Silvia Delagneau present a scenic and musical proposal that transcends the conventions of opera to become an exploration of the complexity of existing in harmony with the natural world. The voices that meet on stage not only tell stories, but are also reflections of how nature and art can be silent witnesses to human life.

The journey continues at MACBA with Aura, a work that connects past and future through the story of a refugee who flees the devastation of a world at war to find peace in a forest. Gabriel Ventura and Marina Herlop , together with Rosa Tharrats , explore here the symbolic dimension of water, which becomes a space of renewal, hope and resistance. This micro-opera, with inspirations in Romanesque art and the mystical visions of Hildegard of Bingen, takes us to a sound and visual universe that fuses melismatic songs with digital elements, creating an experience where the limits between the tangible and the incorporeal are mixed. The aquatic creatures and the voices of other worlds that populate the stage are an allegory of the interspecies future that, rather than being dystopian, is presented as an opportunity to rethink coexistence with the planet.

Finally, the Liceu hosts Desheretaràs la terra, a piece that directly challenges us about collective responsibility in the degradation of the natural world. With a set designed by Carlos Bunga , where an organic soil symbolizes the fragility of the planet, this work highlights the progressive deterioration of nature and the urgent need to make changes. The work by Míriam Cano , Fabià Santcovsky and Carla Tovias is a cry of conscience that appeals to the public to reconsider the link with our environment.
