Bonart lands in Colombia
Medellín and Bogotá host the presentation of the magazine's international issue 3 and a new artistic collaboration linked to the Contemporary Craft Biennial Visions of Catalonia.
With the end of summer, Bonart heads to Colombia to experience a particularly significant week in its international career. Medellín and Bogotá will be the two settings for a program that will combine the presentation of issue 3 of the magazine's international edition, with special attention to the Colombian artistic context, and the presentation of a new collaboration between Catalan and Colombian institutions. Two events that will allow for closer ties between both territories and that also coincide with one of the central moments in the Latin American artistic calendar: the celebration of ARTBO in Bogotá.
The first stop will be Medellín. On Tuesday, September 22, at 7 p.m., the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín (MAMM) will host the presentation of the new international issue of Bonart, an edition that devotes a particularly attentive look at creation and the Colombian cultural ecosystem. The meeting will feature the participation of Alejandro Tobón, artist included in the pages of this issue; Gustavo Villa, collector; Silvana Tobón, cultural manager and art researcher; María del Rosario Escobar, director of the Museo de Antioquia; Christian Padilla, historian and curator, and Ricard Planas, director and founder of Bonart.
The choice of Medellín as a starting point is not accidental. The city has established itself as one of the most dynamic centers of artistic production, research and debate in Colombia, and the meeting at the MAMM will allow the presentation of a publication that understands internationalization not as a simple geographical expansion, but as an opportunity to establish new conversations with the cultural contexts in which it is immersed.
Two days later, on Thursday, September 24, the tour will continue in Bogotá. At 7 p.m., the Edgar Negret Museum will be the setting for the presentation of a work resulting from the collaboration between the museum and the urban artist El Xupet Negre. The event will bring together the artist himself with Edgar David Buitrago Mancilla, director of the museum; Fernando Cuevas, curator, cultural manager and artist; David Planas, representative of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Ricard Planas.
The presence of Fernando Cuevas also provides a direct connection with the artistic programming currently taking place in Barcelona, where he has curated Leonel Castañeda's exhibition, El cos dels cossos , at the Espai Isern Dalmau of the Lluís Coromina Foundation, which will later have a new stop at the Banyoles headquarters. This link reinforces a network of exchanges that connects projects, artists and cultural agents from both sides of the Atlantic.
The second Colombian event will coincide with the start of ARTBO, which will be held in Bogotá from September 24 to 27. The coincidence will place the presentation in the context of one of the great art weeks in Colombia, with galleries, museums, collectors, artists, curators and institutions concentrating their activity in the Colombian capital. Bogotá will thus become, during these days, one of the main meeting points for contemporary art in South America.
