One million euros to advance the new Guissona Museum
The Government will allocate this amount to the second phase of the project, which will allow the completion of spaces for public use and the reinforcement of the exhibition, educational and research functions linked to the Roman site of Iesso.
The new Guissona Museum takes a new step forward with the launch of the second phase of its construction. The Government has approved granting the Guissona City Council a direct subsidy of one million euros to carry out this new stage of the project during the period 2026-2028. The aid will be channeled through the Cultural Initiative Support Office and will allow for the continuation of the expansion and modernization of a facility closely linked to the Roman site of Iesso.
The investment is part of the strategic project for the preservation, research and dissemination of Guissona's archaeological heritage, and aims to consolidate the museum as a space intended both for the conservation and dissemination of this legacy and for the generation of knowledge around it.
This second phase will enable the main spaces for public use and ordinary operation of the future facility to be enabled. These will include areas intended for welcoming visitors, temporary exhibitions and educational activities, as well as the spaces necessary to carry out research and administration tasks.
The action should thus contribute to strengthening the different functions of the Guissona Museum and expanding the possibilities of relationship between archaeological heritage and the public. The project takes as its axis the site of Iesso, one of the main witnesses of the Roman presence in the interior of Catalonia, and proposes the new equipment as a tool to deepen knowledge of the past and facilitate its transmission.
The second construction phase, planned between 2026 and 2028, thus becomes a key piece in advancing the configuration of the new museum and the enhancement of the Roman heritage of La Segarra.
