The Gran Teatre del Liceu becomes, for a few hours, a work of art in itself with Superexposición , the new immersive installation by Penique Productions. The artistic collective occupies the entire main hall of the theater with a spectacular orange inflatable structure that completely changes the perception of one of the most emblematic scenic spaces in the country.

The enormous membrane, expanded by air pressure, extends from the stalls to the ceiling and from the stage to the balconies, enveloping the entire architecture under a single skin, texture and hue. The warm lighting of the theatre itself shapes the inflatable surface and allows us to sense its ornaments, volumes and architectural details, generating a completely new reading of the space.

With this intervention, the main hall ceases to be the simple stage where a show is performed and becomes the true protagonist of the experience. Visitors are invited to explore this ephemeral landscape and rediscover the Liceu from an unprecedented perspective, in which the limits between continent and content disappear and the architecture becomes a living work.

The temporary nature of the project also posed a significant logistical challenge. Assembly began immediately after the opera performance on Friday and dismantling was scheduled for 8pm on Saturday. The entire process took place in a matter of hours, making the installation an experience as intense as it was fleeting.

Despite its brevity, public interest has been extraordinary. The 1,200 places available to visit the installation were quickly sold out, confirming the appeal of a proposal that offers a radically different way of inhabiting a space as well-known as the Liceu.

Superexhibition is part of the artistic project promoted by Víctor Garcia de Gomar since his incorporation into the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 2019. His commitment is to consolidate the theater as a true Center for the Arts, with opera as its central axis, but open to dialogue with disciplines such as visual arts, philosophy, anthropology, poetry, science or technology. In this context, the intervention of Penique Productions exemplifies the Liceu's desire to expand the limits of artistic experience and convert its architectural heritage into a space for contemporary experimentation.
