Querétaro launches itself onto the international art circuit with the birth of JUSTQRO

From November 12 to 15, 2026, the city of Querétaro will host the first edition of JUSTQRO, a new international contemporary art fair that aims to become the main professional meeting point of Art Week Querétaro and one of the country's leading cultural events.

Driven by the JUSTFAIRS team, a platform with more than seventeen years of experience in the development of contemporary art fairs in Europe and America, JUSTQRO arrives at a time of extraordinary growth for Querétaro, a city that has established itself as one of the main economic, business and creative hubs in Mexico.

At the helm of the project is Óscar García García, director of JUSTFAIRS, who has spearheaded the platform's international expansion and the connection between galleries, artists, and collectors in recent years. His experience in building professional networks and opening new cultural markets has been crucial in launching JUST in Mexico with a project designed to strengthen ties between Europe and Latin America.

For the development of JUSTQRO, the organization also has a permanent team in Mexico led by Alejandro Chávez, director of Art Week Querétaro, who is responsible for the local implementation of the project and for developing strategic relationships with institutions, companies, collectors, and cultural agents in the country. This structure allows JUST to combine its international experience and accumulated knowledge with a deep connection to the Mexican context and the specific characteristics of the Querétaro cultural ecosystem.

The new fair will be part of Art Week Querétaro, an initiative that will transform the city for a week into a vibrant cultural ecosystem where art, design, architecture, gastronomy, innovation, and cultural tourism will converge. Museums, galleries, cultural centers, universities, hotels, restaurants, and urban spaces will develop a joint program aimed at positioning Querétaro as one of the most dynamic cultural destinations in Latin America.

Within this grand celebration of creativity, JUSTQRO will act as the professional and commercial hub of the event, generating business opportunities, visibility and exchange between galleries, artists, collectors, institutions and companies.

“JUSTQRO was created to accompany the extraordinary moment Querétaro is experiencing and to help consolidate its position as a city open to culture, innovation, and international talent. We want to build a fair connected with the city and its business, creative, and cultural community,” says Óscar García García, director of JUSTFAIRS.

“Querétaro has demonstrated that the creative economy is not an abstract concept, but a real driver of development. Art Week Querétaro and JUSTQRO are a concrete commitment to transforming creativity into an economic engine: attracting international talent, opening marketing channels for emerging artists, and consolidating Querétaro as a leading Ibero-American cultural hub. This project has championed contemporary art as a central part of the city's identity and development. Together, we are building the conditions for Querétaro to compete on the international art circuit on its own terms,” says Alejandro Chávez, director of Art Week Querétaro.

The artistic direction of this first edition will be led by Laura Darriba, along with Óscar García García. Darriba's experience in curating and cultural management will bring a specialized perspective to consolidate an artistic proposal with international reach and reinforce the fair's distinctive identity within the Ibero-American circuit.
