The Night of Museums 2026 will be held on Saturday, May 16th and will once again turn Catalonia into a great open cultural stage, with special prominence for Barcelona and its metropolitan area. In this edition, more than 94 museums and cultural spaces will offer free access and a nightly program designed to experience culture in a different, closer and more participatory way.
Among the notable new features this year is the incorporation for the first time of new spaces such as the Gran Hotel Barcino in Barcelona, the La Bòbila Cultural Centre and the La Florida 6.0 centre in l'Hospitalet. These additions expand the cultural map of the Night of Museums and reinforce the desire to bring culture closer to new territories and audiences.
It will also be an opportunity to rediscover recently renovated spaces, such as the Montjuïc Castle Interpretation Centre, as well as two locations of the Barcelona History Museum: the Casa de l'Aigua and the Fabra i Coats. These facilities, with new exhibition and museographic proposals, are presented as key points within the cultural itinerary of the night.
Another special focus of this edition will be the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes, which is celebrating its 700th anniversary this year. The space will thus become one of the symbolic settings of the Night of Museums, with activities that highlight its historical and spiritual heritage.
But the Night of Museums goes far beyond exhibitions. The program includes concerts, theater shows, performances, guided tours and immersive experiences that transform museums into living, dynamic spaces open to contemporary creation. This year, the proposals linked to historical memory, artistic installations and musical performances designed to surprise visitors stand out in particular.
One of the main focuses of this edition is the young audience. For the first time, special emphasis is placed on this group with around thirty activities designed specifically for them. Urban dance workshops, urban art routes and concerts are part of a program that seeks to connect with the new generations and foster their bond with culture.
With a renewed image and a clear message —"don't stay at home"—, the Night of Museums 2026 is committed to a more accessible, participatory and open nighttime cultural experience for everyone. An invitation to rediscover museums from a new perspective and to experience culture as a shared experience under the light of the night.
