Crea en Xarxa: a new collective impetus for contemporary performing arts in Catalonia
A pioneering model of collaboration between creative centers opens up new avenues of support, residency and connection for creators.
The panorama of contemporary creation in Catalonia adds a new initiative with a transformative vocation: Crea en Xarxa , a program that supports cooperation between public institutions and sector agents to strengthen support for the performing arts. Driven by the Department of Culture together with four creation centers in the territory, the project was born with the aim of consolidating a sustainable, decentralized model focused on the real needs of creators.
This alliance brings together leading facilities such as Roca Umbert – Fàbrica de les Arts (Granollers), L'Estruch – Fàbrica de Creació de les Arts en Viu (Sabadell), El Convent de les Arts (Alcover) and El Canal – Centre for the Creation of Performing Arts (Salt). It also has the involvement of the General Directorate of Cultural Rights, Creation and Libraries and the collaboration of FiraTàrrega and the Street Arts Platform (PAC), forming a network that connects institutions, professionals and the territory.
The program starts with a pilot test focused on street arts: Crea en Xarxa – Arts de Carrer, which opens a call to select four projects in the creation phase. This first experience will serve to test a work system based on residencies shared between different centers, providing artists with resources, support and spaces in various locations around the country.
Beyond logistical support, the initiative emphasizes the integral development of creative processes. This includes both artistic accompaniment and connection with other professionals in the sector, promoting synergies and new opportunities for circulation. At the same time, it promotes the opening of processes to citizens, integrating the local community in the different phases of creation and strengthening the link between culture and territory.
