From April 25 to August 30, 2026, Mallorca will host the first edition of the Mallorca PhotoFest (PHOF), an international festival dedicated to photography and contemporary images with a biennial character, promoted by Art Palma Contemporani.

This event was born with the desire to position the island as an international cultural reference, while committing to a diverse, open and high-quality programming. For more than four months, the festival will deploy exhibitions, workshops, conferences, screenings and guided tours both in Palma and in numerous municipalities in the Part Forana, involving an extensive network of public and private cultural spaces.

The PHOF is the heir to the experience of Palma Photo (held between 2001 and 2015) and recovers this legacy with a renewed look, focused on the role of the image in contemporary society. The objective is to generate spaces for reflection and dialogue, fostering a critical, creative and participatory vision among citizens.

Beyond a festival, the Mallorca PhotoFest is presented as a strategic commitment to visual culture, education and a model of sustainable cultural tourism, distributed across the territory and over time, and deeply connected to the identity of the Balearic Islands.

The official opening will take place on April 25 at 12:00 in the Pati de Dones of the La Misericòrdia Cultural Center (Palma), in an event that will bring together artists, curators, institutions and the general public. The festival is directed by Xavier Fiol, with Montserrat Torras as general coordinator and co-curator. The team is completed with the advice of Xisco Bonnín and Horacio Fernández, responsible for guaranteeing the coherence and quality of the project.

The festival features the participation of prominent institutions and cultural spaces such as the Toni Catany Foundation, the Miró Mallorca Foundation, Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art in Palma, the Casal Solleric, the La Misericòrdia Cultural Center, the Juan March Palma Foundation, CaixaForum Palma, Casa Planas and Adema Escola Universitària, among others.

In terms of artistic programming, the PHOF will bring together figures of national and international prestige such as Joan Fontcuberta, Donna Ferrato, Pixy Liao, Jamie Diamond, Axel Hütte, Yu Depeng, Paola Risoli, Ricardo Cases, Aitor Lara, Cecilia Paredes and Marina Cánovas, creating a rich and diverse proposal.
