A pictorial and spatial exploration of memory and perception that invites the viewer to construct their own reality in a world marked by immediacy.

Rosa Brun: landscapes of time

Ours is a world of multiple layers and perceptions. Reality, in the most primitive sense of the word, is not something definitive; rather, perhaps, reality is a way of understanding our surroundings as a habitable and tangible space. Fiction is no longer presented as something alien to this sense of reality, or truth, but as another layer that is added and reorganizes our perception of the concept.

In this time of speed, then; a time of immediacy in which reality has more to do with media interpretation, Rosa Brun asks us for patience. Through this new exhibition, Paisajes para un mundo inestable —presented at the Seltz gallery (Barcelona), until May 20— the artist designs a series of pieces where memory, experience and time are key in the understanding and discovery of these landscapes that are, at the same time, a work and an individual landscape.

Color is important in the journey that Brun proposes; so is form. Located at the point of friction between reality and fiction, between the proposal and the individual and collective experience, the whole of the exhibition —a set that mixes painting and architecture to create a single format that is neither one nor the other, but a new one— aims to propose to the viewer a search towards the corners of memory in order to complete, or complement, each “landscape”. Each piece, therefore, functions both as a structure and as an event in which the viewer's gaze is as important as that of the artist.

Landscapes for an Unstable World appropriates time and exhibition space in order to generate a space where complexity is experienced without simplifications or explanations; where, through each piece, the viewer is able to generate their own reality from it without the need for a specific abstraction.
