Filipp Jenikäe's temporary exhibition at Zone Trois Galerie is shaping up to be one of the most significant cultural and artistic events of spring in Bordeaux. Presented from March 19 to May 16, 2026, and supported by Château Desmirail, the exhibition reveals a vibrant pictorial universe where memory, identity, and contemporary visual language boldly intertwine.

From the opening, the public is invited to immerse themselves in a body of work nourished by influences as diverse as they are powerful. The expressive imprint of Henry Taylor, the colorful compositions of Jonas Wood, and the graphic energy of Nina Chanel Abney are all evident. These contemporary references are complemented by the timeless echoes of Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Paul Gauguin, as well as the critical eye of George Grosz, the luminosity of David Hockney, and the socially engaged narratives of Faith Ringgold.

Through this constellation of influences, Filipp Jenikäe does not limit himself to quoting art history: he reinterprets it, challenges it, and makes it dialogue with contemporary issues, resulting in a unique, intimate work deeply connected to his time.

Past in Barcelona

Filipp Jenikäe (born in 1987) is a German artist who currently practices between Münster and Paris. His first contact with art came through his family environment, especially thanks to his mother, who worked as an art teacher. Despite growing up in a context deeply connected to the art world—with a sister dedicated to art history—Jenikäe did not pursue traditional academic training in this discipline.

In his early years, he chose a different path, beginning his studies in law and later in political science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He later furthered his education in business administration in the Netherlands. It wasn't until some time later, after abandoning his childhood aspiration to become a professional basketball player, that he found his true calling in art.
