The Filmoteca de Catalunya presents a new interval dedicated to film experimentation with Cinebotànica , a proposal created by Cris Neira that can be experienced until February 19. Far from large productions and complex technological devices, cinebotànica is proposed as a way of making cinema that recovers the material essence of the medium: a simple, attentive and meticulous gesture, within the reach of anyone willing to offer time and attention.

This practice starts from an almost artisanal principle: intervening directly on the celluloid with plant elements -leaves, petals, stems, seeds- which, in contact with the photosensitive film, leave organic and unrepeatable traces. The result is a hypnotic visual universe where the lines, shapes, colors and textures of nature are transformed into vibrant spectacles of macroperspectives and microuniverses. The screen thus becomes a space of appearance and revelation, where the plant world is shown with an almost abstract intensity.

The program includes floral projections and herbarium films that will occupy the room as if it were an expanded garden in motion. The audience will not only be a spectator, but also an active part of a collective process: the making of a 16 mm film built from a shared thread that mixes different tools, skills and sensibilities. Without a camera and without a hierarchical authorship, the proposal claims a creation where nature itself becomes co-author —or even sole author— of the images.

In parallel with the participatory sessions, it will be possible to visit an installation conceived by Cris Neira that brings together some of his herbarium films. The exhibition space expands the experience of the projection and invites you to observe the celluloid fragments closely, highlighting their tactile and material dimension.
