The Pollença Museum is hosting a new and exceptional exhibition dedicated to the young photographer Javier Inés (1956-1991), one of the most unique figures in 20th-century Spanish photography. The exhibition, which focuses on previously unpublished works, personal objects and a setting faithful to his creative imagination, allows the public to delve into the underground and visceral universe that characterizes the artist's work.

Javier Inés made his name in the most innovative photography circles before the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, and his career stands out for his ability to capture a personal and groundbreaking look, marked by provocation and expressive freedom. His work reflects an intense sensitivity, and each image functions as a testament to its time and its unrepeatable character.

The artist's legacy has been guarded for over twenty years by his partner, Juanjo Rotger, who has carefully preserved Javier Inés' photographic archive and personal belongings. This conservation work has allowed the recovery of a fundamental part of his work, which was rediscovered by the gallerist Rocío Santacruz and screened internationally with presentations at Paris Photo and ARCO Madrid. Now, after this long process of preservation and recovery, the work returns to Pollença, this time to the cloister of the convent of Sant Domingo, where it is exhibited in collaboration between Rotger and the Pollença Museum.

The exhibition is organized into several areas that allow us to explore the different stages and creative interests of Javier Inés. There are spaces dedicated to ballet, photomontage and his experience in Ibiza, as well as a section focused on Barcelona in color, which portrays both the pre-Olympic city and the social elite and illustrious figures of the time. One of the most outstanding areas is also the one dedicated to Barcelona's nightlife, with images captured in legendary venues such as the KGB and the Universal, so well-known in the postmodern era that characterized Barcelona prior to the Olympic Games, true reference scenarios for alternative culture in the eighties.
