An initiative of the Gran Teatre del Liceu with the Department of Culture and Creative Industries of the Barcelona City Council through the Disseny Hub Barcelona with the mentorship of stage director Àlex Ollé within the programming of the Barcelona Grec Festival. Three micro-operas, approximately thirty minutes long per evening, performed in different spaces of the Liceu with emerging creators.

Composers, librettists, stage directors and design students join Òh!pera, emerging once again as an important platform for new creators who can experiment in real contexts, bringing short, fresh and contemporary opera closer.

  • Press conference and presentation of Òh!pera 2025.

The works that will be presented in various spaces of the Liceu –such as the Sala Mestres Cabanes or the Foyer– on July 25, 26 and 27, in two performances (6pm and 7.30pm), are La vergonya , la panerola and El Corte Inglés , by composer Sirah Martínez, with libretto by Clàudia Cedó, stage direction by Mercè Vila Godoy and musical direction by Néstor Bayona; Ikaria, by composer Ariadna Alsina, librettist Anna Pazos, with Daniel Huertas on the podium and stage direction by Berta Prieto; and Estètica i massacre, with music by composer Carles Prat, who also does the musical direction, libretto by Carlota Gurt, and stage direction by Oriol Pla.

In previous seasons, Òh!pera has produced eleven thirty-minute micro-operas in which around 160 students and 65 professionals have worked. The selected projects integrate young creators creating teams with musicians, designers, musical directors, set designers, sound technicians, choreographers or specialists and explain the multidisciplinary nature of opera as a transversal genre with other forms of artistic expression.
