bonart barcelona - 13/10/23

Manifesta 15 reshapes the relationships between art, culture and society by investigating and catalyzing socio-ecological changes in Europe while maintaining a continuous dialogue with both local communities and international cultural producers. Throughout its last editions, Manifesta has become an interdisciplinary platform that emphasizes the pressing issues of our time seen from the perspective of the local host city.

On the occasion of the 15th edition of the European Nomadic Biennial , which will be held in 12 cities in the metropolitan region of Barcelona, Manifesta 15 is launching an open call inviting people, groups and organizations to propose projects that present new visionary approaches to the socio-ecological transition we face globally.

Manifesta 15 will work in disused spaces of the metropolitan region that are symbols of the thematic and conceptual approach of the edition. The biennale aims to include new local perspectives on the ever-changing fabric and stories of the region. Therefore, Manifesta 15 invites local actors to come up with unconventional projects related to visual arts , ecology, theater, architecture, social design, music, literature and other disciplines that can help shape positive future visions of how the metropolitan region should be transformed in a sustainable way.

Manifesta 15 invites a wide range of local initiatives to submit to the open call and think beyond the scope of traditional visual art formats to address issues ranging from urban development and decolonization to inclusion social and climate transition that can generate a positive impact for people and local communities.

A national and international jury will review all applications and select a minimum of 10 projects that will be offered funding ranging from €10,000 to €15,000 depending on the scale and complexity of the proposed project .

The selected projects will be integrated into the main biennial program and will be presented in the 12 cities that will host the 15th edition of Manifesta from 8 September to 24 November 2024. The deadline for the open call is Friday 1 December 2023.
