Eleventh edition of the Strenes festival in Girona and Barcelona

From last Friday March 31 and until May 6 in Girona, and from May 4 to 26 in Barcelona, the 11th edition of the Strenes Festival will take place. The live presentation at Auditori de Girona of the Owls' new album, "La nit está que crema", was the starting point of this festival in Girona. Funds from the organization have reported that Strenes will once again host the main musical premieres in the country and that in total, the Girona event has put on sale a total of 20,400 tickets in Girona and 6,000 in Barcelona, of which already 'have sold 15,000 tickets, hanging the sold out sign at the double concerts by Joan Dausà and Els Amics de les Arts on the steps of the Cathedral, at the concert by Sílvia Pérez Cruz at the Municipal Theater, by Luz Casal at L'Auditori , by Blaumut at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, by The Tyets and Lal'Ba at La Mirona in Salt and by Triquell at the Teatre Municipal.

As usual, this new edition of Strenes will feature the premieres of some of the most anticipated albums, tours and shows of the year. They will release a new album, artists such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Luz Casal, Mariona Escoda, Triquell, Els Amics de les Arts, Buhos, Mariona Escoda, Judit Neddermann, The Tyets, 31 FAM, Lal'Ba, Caïm Riba, Porto Bello, Adriano Galante , Anna Roig, B1N0, Julieta, Figa Flawas, Doble & Hugsound, Ven'nus, Socunbohemio, Le Nais, Sara Terraza, L'ultimo elefant and Malson Atmosfèric. On the other hand, the Strenes will premiere such special shows as the celebration of the ten years of Blaumut's career at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the twenty years of Beth's career at the Municipal Theater and the ten years of "Jo mai mai" by Joan Dausà for a double act on the Stairs of the Cathedral. Other notable presentations will be the premieres of the new show by the prestigious jazz duo Andrea Motis and Marco Mesquida, by the revolutionary Galician bands Tanxugueiras or the tribute to the 30th anniversary of Daft Punk's album Homework by the Girona group Robot Rock Alive.

50% of female programming and emerging bands

Strenes 2023, in addition, stands out for its equal programming. Practically, 50% of the proposals are led or have female members. In the same way, it also demonstrates its willingness to support new music by allocating 50% of the programming to emerging bands. In this sense, the Girona event schedules one more day of free-entry concerts at the Puja de Sant Domènec and Plaça del Vi in order to facilitate the citizens' access to culture.

In total, 30% of the festival program will be free entry. As for the section called "el Talent Gironí", a section of the festival that showcases the musical talent of the Girona regions, it has Doble & Hugsound, Sara Terraza, B1n0 and Malson Atmosfèric. It should also be noted that the artists Suu and Scorpio will participate in the festival's educational project by giving talks at the Santiago Sobrequés, Narcís Xifra, La Salle and Montilivi high schools in Girona on April 12 and 18.

Strenes 2023 will take place in the three usual large venues of the festival which are the Girona Auditorium, the Girona Municipal Theater and the La Mirona de Salt room, also in the iconic spaces of the Old Quarter such as the steps of the Cathedral, the Pujada Sant Domènec and Plaça del Vi, and more decentralized spaces such as La Marfà - Musical Creation Center and Central Park.
