The Joan Miró Foundation and the BBVA Foundation present Paul Klee and the secrets of nature, an exhibition about the importance of the study of the natural world in the artist's work that can be visited until February 12, 2022.

Curated by Martina Millà, head of exhibitions at the Joan Miró Foundation, with the collaboration of Fabienne Eggelhöfer, chief curator of the Zentrum Paul Klee, the exhibition focuses on the German-Swiss artist's fascination with the exploration of phenomena natural and their desire to merge with the internal laws that govern them. With the exclusive sponsorship of the BBVA Foundation, Paul Klee and the secrets of nature traces a chronological journey in four areas that follows Klee's development as an artist and pedagogue, from his formative period to the synthesis in his stage of maturity, passing through the impact of the First World War and the definition of a theoretical framework during his years of teaching at the Bauhaus.

The visitor will discover this aspect of Paul Klee's work from more than 200 pieces including paintings, drawings, educational documentation and natural objects mainly from the funds of the Zentrum Paul Klee. In the framework of the current review of the canon of modern art, the monographic account is interrupted with the incorporation of some works by women artists contemporary to Klee or similar to his approaches, such as Gabriele Münter, Emma Kunz and Maruja Mallo . Finally, Sandra Knecht is in charge of producing an installation as a colophon of the exhibition.

The project is completed with an extensive public and social program with activities for different educational stages and for the family and general public, as well as a catalog that reproduces a conversation with the latter artist, in addition to essays by Millà and Eggelhöfer and a of Klee's fundamental texts on the study of nature.
