The Palafrugell Short Film Festival returns from November 26 to 29 with its fourth edition, an event that will bring together 37 short films and 57 filmmakers in various locations around the town. The program combines contemporary creation, new generations of female filmmakers, and the recovery of cinematographic heritage, with a special focus on Catalan production and the connections between amateur cinema and current audiovisual practices.
One of this year's main novelties is the collaboration with the ERAM University School of Girona, which will take shape in a session dedicated to animation and documentary. Ten short films will be presented by their directors on Thursday, November 26, at 5:30 p.m., at the Cork Museum of Catalonia. The meeting will be moderated by local filmmakers Marta Vergonyós and Pau Bruguera and aims to give visibility to the new voices emerging from the field of audiovisual training.
The official opening will take place the following day, Friday, November 27, at 6 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Cork Museum, with the screening of Dies d’estiu i de pluja, a feature film by the Espurnes collective that will launch this new edition.

The official section of young filmmakers will be another focus of the festival, featuring Palafrugell native Laia Quintanilla and Girona-based Carolina Cao and Joel Rodríguez, among other filmmakers of Catalan, national, and international origin. The five sessions in this section will include the presence of professionals who will introduce the different screening blocks. Notable names include Alba Cros, Anna Solanas, Marc Riba, Judith Prat, and Carla Subirana, who will present their respective works.
The program also includes Cinema&Cork, a performative experience by the artist Marta Valverde, originally from Nigrán, which will take place on Sunday, November 29, at 10:30 a.m., at Can Genís. The proposal expands the boundaries of film projection and establishes a dialogue between artistic languages.
The audiovisual memory of the territory will have its own space in the retrospective session, designed to relate regional amateur cinema with contemporary cinematographic practices. This perspective recovers figures and experiences linked to the Palafrugell 8 mm National Contest, with tributes to pioneer Arcadi Gili i Garcia and Palafrugell native Modest Cuixart, revisited from the viewpoint of Bisbal filmmaker Antoni Martí. Miguel Ramos, Lluís Maimí, and Sant Feliu filmmaker Anna Vicenç will also be remembered.
