DHub opens a season between design, fashion and digital futures
bonart barcelona - 06/10/26

The DHub faces the new season with a program that puts into dialogue different moments, disciplines and ways of understanding design. The figure of André Ricard, the recovery of a pioneer of haute couture like Asunción Bastida, the exploration of the textile work of Aurèlia Muñoz and the commitment to digital creation articulate a program that vindicates design as a practice capable of explaining the transformations of society and proposing new scenarios for the future.

The season will begin with André Ricard. Design in Use , which can be visited from October 29, 2026 to March 14, 2027. Curated by Marina Povedano and Arnau Pascual, the exhibition recovers the career of one of the great names in Catalan and Spanish design from a double perspective. On the one hand, it vindicates his ability to create functional objects that have ended up forming part of the collective imagination; on the other, it highlights his work in the promotion, professionalization and internationalization of Catalan and Spanish design. Organized by DHub, La Fábrica, Madrid Design Festival and FAD, the exhibition allows us to understand Ricard not only as a creator of objects, but also as a decisive figure in the construction of contemporary design culture.

A few days later, on November 4, Asunción Bastida will arrive. Barcelona and haute couture , which will be on view until March 14, 2027. Curated by Laura Ballarín Bescós, the exhibition is the first retrospective dedicated to this designer, a figure still little known to the general public but fundamental to understanding the history of 20th-century fashion. Bastida was a pioneer of haute couture and the only woman who was part of the prominent core of Spanish haute couture. Her recovery allows us to review from Barcelona a history of fashion marked by male names and to vindicate the role of a creator who contributed decisively to consolidating this field.

November will also bring the most experimental dimension of the program to the DHub with Aurèlia Muñoz. Textile as a Pretext . The exhibition, which will open on November 10 and can be visited until March 14, 2027, focuses on an artist who took textiles beyond their traditional function to turn them into a territory of formal and spatial experimentation. Her presence contributes to broadening the view on the boundaries between art, craftsmanship and design.

Another of the season's themes will be the relationship between design, everyday life and the social construction of space. The Frankfurt Kitchen. Design and Gender in the Domestic Space , which can be visited from November 11, 2026 to March 14, 2027, takes the well-known Frankfurt Kitchen as a starting point to address the way in which the design of the domestic space has been conditioned by gender structures. Curated by Reme Samper, Andrés Alfaro, of the Alfaro Hofmann Collection, and Anna Guiot, of the FAD, the proposal is organized by the FAD.

On November 25th, one of the season's major projects will arrive: Vectors. Digital Art to Think About the Future , which will be on view until March 14th, 2027. Curated by Irma Vilà i Òdena and organized by the DHub, the exhibition will kick off the Digital Arts Biennial, a new platform designed to position Barcelona as a meeting place for contemporary digital creation. The DHub will be its epicenter, thus reinforcing its vocation to address new forms of creation and the technological transformations that are modifying visual culture.

The new season, however, will not end with these exhibitions. In 2027, the DHub will incorporate Els llibres de Barcelona , a proposal dedicated to the past, present and future of the publishing industry produced in the city. The project further expands the territory of the center, which places design in relation to forms of cultural production, communication systems and objects that are part of everyday life.

This new stage will also have an urban dimension. The DHub will strengthen its relationship with its surroundings with the new lobby of the Glòries metro station, conceived as a transitional space between public transport and the facility's activity. In this way, the museum seeks to consolidate its centrality within one of the areas of Barcelona where architecture, design, technology and urban transformation converge.
