Amposta once again turns the street into a big circus stage with FesticAm

FesticAm celebrates its 13th edition from October 2 to 4 with more than twenty proposals that combine contemporary circus, theater, acrobatics, humor and street arts.

For three days, Amposta will once again turn its streets, squares and public spaces into a large open-air stage. From October 2 to 4, the city will host the 13th edition of the Amposta International Theatre and Circus Festival, FesticAm, with a programme of more than twenty activities, shows and installations that vindicate street arts as a meeting place between contemporary creation and the public.

The festival will feature a program that combines internationally renowned companies with proposals designed for diverse audiences. Contemporary circus, comedy, theater, acrobatics, humor and interaction will be some of the languages that will take over urban spaces, in a commitment to a culture that does not need the walls of a theater to establish a direct relationship with the audience.

Among the most outstanding proposals is Refugi , by Manolo Alcántara, which will open the festival on Friday, October 2nd in the Town Hall Square. The company, awarded the National Circus Award, will present a piece linked to the expressive possibilities of contemporary circus.

The program also includes Sísifos , by the company Uparte, a macro-show that will bring together fourteen artists on stage and that uses circus language to pose a reflection on some of the challenges of today's world. The proposal exemplifies FesticAm's desire to go beyond entertainment and explore the capacity of street arts to generate thought and dialogue.

The closing will come on Sunday, October 4th at the Xiribecs Park with Carena , by La Corcoles, a suspension and tightrope walking show that will push the physical and scenic possibilities of the public space to the limit.

Jordi Príncep, director of FesticAm, claims the consolidation of the festival after thirteen editions, but also the need to maintain a program open to surprise and innovation. In this sense, he defends street arts as a discipline capable of escaping conventional scenic circuits and establishing immediate contact with the public, addressing contemporary issues through humor, drama, comedy, immersion and audience participation.
