Antoni Marí, a life between literature, art and thought
On October 7, the Tàpies Museum will host an event to pay tribute to the poet, writer, essayist and professor, one of the outstanding figures of contemporary Catalan culture.
The Tàpies Museum will host on October 7, at 6:30 p.m., an event in tribute to Antoni Marí (Ibiza, 1944 – Barcelona, 2026), poet, writer, essayist, art critic and university professor, with the aim of vindicating an intellectual career that occupied a unique place in contemporary Catalan culture.
His work unfolded between poetry, essay, narrative and theory, always from a conception of creation closely linked to thought. Throughout his career, Marí explored the relationships between literature, philosophy and art, and built a body of work marked by intellectual demand, aesthetic reflection and a particular capacity to establish bridges between disciplines.
Beyond his written production, his activity as a professor and researcher had a notable impact on humanistic studies and on several generations of writers, artists, researchers and students. His figure thus occupied a border space between literary creation, criticism and thought, understanding culture as a territory of permanent dialogue.
The Tàpies Museum's tribute will bring together people who shared different areas of Marí's life and career, from friendship and creation to teaching and research. Pepa Balsach, Raquel Bouso, Lúa Coderch, Jordi Ibáñez, Francesc Parcerisas, Espe Rabat, Toni Tàpies and Pucci Vilurbina, among other participants, will provide different perspectives on a figure who is difficult to place within a single discipline.
