Bonart presents its new international issue in Bogotá at the Edgar Negret Museum
Bonart International's Colombian leg continues in Bogotá with the presentation of its third issue, following its inaugural event in Medellín. The event will take place this Saturday, September 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the Edgar Negret Museum, a particularly fitting venue for a presentation that fosters dialogue between contemporary Catalan and Colombian art through the lens of art, territory, and the international circulation of culture.
The institution serves as a key resource for understanding the career of one of the great names in 20th-century Colombian sculpture, and allows the magazine's launch to take place within a context where the artist's work, the museum space, and his legacy are central. Negret's universe, marked by his exploration of form, space, and the relationship between sculpture and architecture, thus provides a framework for reflection in a publication that, in its third international edition, broadens its focus to include Colombia.
The event will also showcase the work resulting from the collaboration between the Edgar Negret Museum and El Xupet Negre, a Catalan urban artist whose career has made his distinctive iconography one of the most recognizable symbols of contemporary urban art. This intervention establishes a new link between Barcelona and Bogotá and places El Xupet Negre's work in direct dialogue with Negret's legacy and with the space that preserves and promotes his art.
The presentation will bring together diverse voices connected to the creation, cultural management, and dissemination of contemporary art. Participants will include El Xupet Negre, artist; Edgar David Buitrago Mancilla, director of the Edgar Negret Museum; Fernando Cuevas Ultizsch, curator, cultural manager, and artist; David Plazas, representative of the Generalitat of Catalonia; and Ricard Planas Camps, director and founder of Bonart.
The event is part of Bonart's presence in Colombia for ARTBO and forms part of an internationalization strategy that seeks to create spaces for exchange between agents, artists, institutions, and cultural projects from Catalonia and Latin America. In this context, Visions of Catalonia, promoted by the Government of Catalonia and directed by the group's cultural manager, is also being presented. This initiative incorporates contemporary crafts into the international dialogue and brings together different approaches to creation linked to materials, territory, and tradition.
Following its launch in Medellín, the arrival of Bonart International 3 in Bogotá expands the magazine's Colombian reach and reinforces its commitment to establishing lasting ties with the country's art scene. Beyond its presence at ARTBO, Bonart views this journey as an opportunity to foster encounters, share perspectives, and forge new connections between Catalan art and the Colombian cultural landscape. This dialogue finds common ground among artists, museums, institutions, and independent projects, from which to continue exploring the diverse ways of understanding and disseminating contemporary art.
