Thirty years of Art Night in Palma
More than fifty exhibitions and a hundred artists participate in an edition that reaffirms the role of the city and Mallorca on the map of contemporary art.
Palma will once again become a meeting point for contemporary art with a new edition of the Nit de l'Art, which this year reaches a particularly significant figure: thirty years of history. Organized by Art Palma Contemporani (APC), the event will be held on Saturday 19 September and will kick off the new exhibition season in Mallorca with a program that brings together more than fifty exhibitions and more than a hundred artists.
Born in 1997, the Nit de l'Art has been building a unique relationship between galleries, artists, institutions, collectors and the public over the course of three decades. What began as an initiative linked to the gallery circuit has ended up consolidating itself as one of the major events on the island's cultural calendar and as one of the moments that mark the beginning of the artistic season.
The anniversary highlights this trajectory in particular. The sixteen galleries associated with Art Palma Contemporani are participating in the 2026 edition with new exhibitions, projects, interventions and special activities that extend beyond Palma and also reach Andratx, Pollença and Santanyí. The program thus claims the vitality of a gallery network that over the past thirty years has contributed to giving visibility to the new languages of contemporary creation and the artists who develop them.
The Night of Art, however, has long since transcended the limits of the gallery circuit. This year's program incorporates a wide range of exhibition and cultural proposals in public and private spaces in Mallorca, expanding the artistic experience beyond commercial venues. Free guided tours in several languages, led by professionals in the sector, concerts and various meetings complete a day conceived as a collective celebration of contemporary culture.
Some of the island's main cultural facilities participate in this tour, including Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art, the Miró Mallorca Foundation, the Juan March Foundation, CaixaForum Palma, Casal Solleric, Can Balaguer, la Llotja, la Misericòrdia, the Museum of Mallorca and the Museum of Pollença. The sum of these spaces reinforces the territorial dimension of the Nit de l'Art and allows it to be understood as a platform that connects different agents and sensibilities of the Mallorcan artistic scene.
