Artist Marga Estelrich presents at ethall, within the framework of Art Nou, Roen Plastic , a specific project developed for the gallery space that delves into her sculptural research around industrially produced objects and the formal possibilities of the graphic elements that accompany them. The exhibition, curated by Óscar Morales Navarro, can be visited until September 5.

Estelrich spends long hours wandering the city with an almost photographic gaze, attentive to details that usually go unnoticed. But, instead of capturing images, he collects objects, fragments and remains of an industrial and urban world that, outside of their original context, can acquire a new life.

Sometimes he locates an object and returns to the same place later, with help, to collect it. On other occasions he studies the times when certain establishments get rid of the products that interest him —such as boxes— to accumulate them over time. There are also objects that appear to him repeatedly in different parts of the city. Others have always been there, but only at a certain moment do they enter his field of vision.

Collecting and accumulating them is a fundamental part of the artist's working methodology. The other is to maintain a relationship with these objects and find a way to provoke a displacement, to bring them from the urban and industrial landscape where they fulfill a certain function to the territory of art.

Both the title of the exhibition and the materials that give shape to the pieces are the result of a succession of more or less fortuitous finds, which over time have taken up a place in the artist's studio and which now arrive at the ethall space. They are objects obtained through small loans or thefts, literal and metaphorical, the product of the artist's walks and negotiations with their "legitimate owners".

The exhibition thus starts from an invitation to Marga Estelrich to develop a specific project for the gallery space and represents a continuation of her sculptural research around industrially produced objects, as well as the formal possibilities of the graphic component that accompanies them.

In this process, the materials leave behind the function for which they were produced and enter a new system of relationships. The artist not only displaces them physically, but also conceptually: what was part of the everyday landscape of the city is now observed from a different perspective.

Roen Plastic thus turns walking, looking and the ability to detect what often goes unnoticed into a creative tool. The city is transformed into a kind of open-air studio where every remnant, every object and every material can become the starting point of a new sculpture.

Marga Estelrich's proposal can be visited at ethall until September 5, as part of the Art Nou program.
