Poetry is once again taking to the paths and villages of the Pyrenees with a new edition of Pirineu, terra de versos , the poetry and music festival in the mountains that is now in its fifth edition. From August 21 to 29, the proposal will deploy a program for all audiences between Alt Urgell and Ripollès, with the aim of reclaiming poetry as a living, shared and rooted practice in the territory.
The festival is co-organized by the cooperative bookstores El Refugi, from La Seu d'Urgell, and La Lluerna, from Ripoll, two initiatives that have made intercooperation one of the project's axes. The proposal seeks to generate a network between mountain villages and consolidate culture as a right also in the Pyrenean territories.
During these days, the festival proposes sharing verses, music, landscape and community through a program that puts creators, disciplines and territories in dialogue. Beyond literature, Pirineu, terra de versos understands poetry as a space for meeting and critical thinking, but also as a tool to strengthen the bonds between people and the place where they live.
A tribute to Jordi Cussà opens the festival
The programming in Ripollès, coordinated by the Llibreria La Lluerna, will start this Thursday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the Casino de Campdevànol, with a concert-recital in tribute to Jordi Cussà by Els Trinxats. The activity will have an entrance fee of 5 euros and will serve to kick off an edition that combines literature, music and memory.
The programming will later move to Alt Urgell, where the festival will continue to develop activities around words, music and contemporary creation.

In La Seu d'Urgell, one of the highlights will be on August 27 with So de cop , a show that brings together musician Arnau Obiols and poet and naturalist Martí Boada. The proposal brings together music, poetry and knowledge of the landscape, in line with the festival's desire to create bridges between artistic disciplines and the Pyrenean territory.
Oral poetry to close the fifth edition
The festival will come to an end on Saturday, August 29, at 6 p.m., in the La Immaculada hall, with a poetry gala that will bring together Cesk Freixas, Roser Maura, Anna Pantinat, Ria Dueñas and Blanca-Llum Vidal. The event, with a ticket price of 6 euros, will give prominence to different voices and ways of understanding poetry.
The closing day will be completed with the performance of Glosa Càustica, a group specializing in improvised oral poetry in Catalan, which will put an end to an edition marked by the diversity of formats and the desire to bring poetry closer to diverse audiences.
