The experimental audiovisual piece Framed Triggers , by the artist from Lleida, Albert Bayona, has received an honorable mention at the Tokyo Film & Screenplay Awards 2026, within the selection corresponding to the month of August. The competition, which is international in nature and with part of its programming online, is open to audiovisual creators and filmmakers from all over the world.
The Tokyo Film & Screenplay Awards are held under the umbrella of Best Film Awards, an international organization that also promotes annual online competitions with headquarters in cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Hollywood. The recognition once again places Framed Triggers on the international experimental film circuit.
The work has its origin in the Framed Triggers project by the artist House of Polymath (José R. Madrid Alonso) and, more specifically, in the sound bank that was built with the contributions of visitors to the exhibition Afectes sónics , presented at the La Panera Art Center in Lleida in 2023.
Based on this sound material, Albert Bayona and drummer and percussionist Antonio Miyagi Torres developed an audiovisual piece that explores the capacity of sound to act as a psychological trigger and generate different stimuli and responses in the viewer.
The proposal was presented live in September 2023, coinciding with the celebration of La Panera's twentieth anniversary. That performance was later transformed into an experimental film that has continued its journey through international circuits.
The Tokyo recognition adds to a track record of awards that Framed Triggers has been accumulating since its creation. In December 2023, it was distinguished in an international competition organized by the Russian Institute of Cinema and Performing Arts and also by the Swedish Film Academy. Later, in April 2025, the piece received a new award at the Berlin Motion Picture Awards, consolidating its presence in different festivals and calls specialized in experimental audiovisual creation.
