Albert Serra will inaugurate the Made in Spain section of the San Sebastian Festival with 'Seize moments de ma vie'
The new non-fiction feature film dedicated to Ingrid Caven will open a selection that will bring together 24 productions from Spanish cinema, with three world premieres and ten first-run operas.
Catalan filmmaker Albert Serra will be in charge of opening the Made in Spain section of the 74th edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival with Seize moments de ma vie , his new non-fiction feature film. The film, which will previously be presented at the Locarno Festival, will arrive at the Basque festival as a Spanish premiere and will mark the beginning of one of the sections dedicated to showing the highlights of Spanish film production.
After the success of Tardes de soledad , which won the Concha d'Or and the Goya Award for best documentary, Serra returns to the festival with a proposal focused on the figure of the German actress and singer Ingrid Caven. The film portrays an exceptional concert at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, where the artist performs sixteen songs that evoke different episodes of her life, building an intimate portrait between music, memory and staging.
The Made in Spain section, which is non-competitive, will present a total of 24 titles this year —with the possibility of adding more works in the coming weeks—, including three world premieres, two Spanish premieres and ten first-run films. The program offers an overview of the most recent Spanish cinema, with productions that have already been released internationally or are yet to be released in theaters.
Among the most relevant names in this edition are also Pedro Almodóvar with Amarga Navidad , presented in competition at the Cannes Film Festival; Isabel Coixet with Tres adioses ; Víctor García León with Altas Capacidades , and Júlia de Paz with La buena hija , consolidating a selection that combines filmmakers with an international career with new voices on the film scene.
The closing of the section will be by Vanesa Benítez with 200 vidas, Paco Rabal , a documentary dedicated to the figure of the emblematic Spanish actor. The 74th edition of the San Sebastian Festival will be held from 18 to 26 September 2026 and will once again turn the city into one of the main meeting points for European and international cinema.
