The Cerdanya Film Festival reaches its 17th edition, consolidated as one of the leading film festivals within the Catalan, national and international audiovisual panorama. From July 30 to August 16, 2026, Puigcerdà and the Cerdanya region will once again become a meeting point for creators, professionals and the public with a program that vindicates cinema as a space for discovery, reflection and coexistence.

This year, the festival has received more than 3,500 films, including short and feature films from the fields of fiction, animation and documentary. From this wide participation, the artistic committee has selected an official program consisting of nearly 150 films, which will be screened in person during the almost three weeks of the festival at the Casino Ceretà in Puigcerdà, a space that is specially transformed to host the film activity.

This year's selection brings together a sample of the best national and international short films, premieres and an outstanding representation of the closest cinematographic talent. The Spanish short films awarded at the festival will obtain, once again, the automatic classification for the preselection of the Goya Awards of the Film Academy, reinforcing the role of the Cerdanya Film Festival as a screening platform for new creators.

One of the main novelties of this edition is the new format of the national short films section, which concentrates the qualifying screenings for the Goyas between July 30 and 31 and August 1 and 2. The international short films section will take place on the evenings of August 3 and 4, while the rest of the program will be dedicated to feature films.

Beyond the screenings, the festival offers a parallel program with professional activities, cultural proposals and meeting spaces that expand the relationship between cinema and territory, also incorporating music, theater and visual arts. The event also maintains its commitment to equality, guaranteeing gender parity in the areas of direction, script and executive production of the selected works.

The festival director, Jordi Forcada, highlights the exceptional quality of the 2026 Official Selection and the difficulty of the selection process given the high level of the works presented. According to Forcada, this edition is 'the result of a year where the talent of the creators has overwhelmed us', a circumstance that has forced the team to make complex decisions to configure a program that, at the same time, maintains the ambition and diversity that define the festival.
