The São Paulo Biennial Foundation has announced the curatorial team that will develop the 37th São Paulo Biennial, scheduled to open in September 2027. Following the appointment of Amanda Carneiro and Raphael Fonseca as chief curators, the institution now completes an international team that reflects its commitment to making the next edition a space for research, exchange, and reflection on the cultural challenges of the present.

Working alongside Carneiro and Fonseca will be Ana Salazar Herrera (Ecuador and Portugal), Léuli Eshrāghin (Samoa, Australia, and Canada), Rado Ištok (Slovakia), Ryan Inouye (United States), and Yina Jiménez Suriel (Dominican Republic). The team is rounded out by curatorial assistants Amanda Tavares and Mayara Carvalho, both from Brazil.

The group's composition demonstrates a firm commitment to geographical diversity and diverse curatorial approaches. Its members develop their practices across Latin America, Oceania, North America, and Europe, contributing experiences linked to very different social, political, and cultural contexts. This plurality reflects the Biennial's desire to establish itself as a platform for critical thought capable of generating new forms of dialogue among artists, researchers, and audiences from diverse backgrounds.

Beyond organizing a major international exhibition, the curatorial project envisions the Biennial as a meeting place where research, imagination, and the exchange of knowledge take center stage. The intention is to create an edition that engages with some of the most pressing issues of the contemporary landscape, from social and environmental transformations to debates on identity, territory, and memory.

For Andrea Pinheiro, president of the São Paulo Biennial Foundation, the selection of this team reaffirms the event's historical identity. In her words, the Biennial has always been a meeting point for diverse cultural, artistic, and political realities, and the inclusion of professionals with careers deeply connected to the major debates of our time will broaden both the critical dimension of the exhibition and its ability to reach new audiences.
