The Virreina Centre de la Imatge presents Declaració d'amor a Lenin until November 1, the new project by Juana Dolores Romero Casanova, an exhibition that places love at the center of contemporary political and cultural debate. Curated by Valentín Roma, the exhibition acquires a special symbolic value as it coincides with the end of her term at the head of the Barcelona center, before joining the MACBA's management.

The exhibition represents the first work conceived by Juana Dolores for a museum and delves into some of the lines of research that have defined her artistic career: the relationship between politics and aesthetics, the historical construction of femininity and the representations of love, desire, eroticism and pornography. Through a proposal that combines cinema, installation and documentary materials, the artist claims the revolutionary potential of love, distancing it from the sentimental readings traditionally associated with bourgeois culture and recovering its most popular, rebellious and transformative dimension.

The core of the exhibition is the film Declaration of Love to Lenin (2026), a production of La Virreina Centre de la Imatge with a duration of 26 minutes and 38 seconds that dialogues with two other pieces created this year: First Self-Portrait and The History of My Class Consciousness. The tour is completed with abundant archival material and a selection of personal publications that function as an intellectual cartography of the artist's creative universe and expand the references that run through the project.

Juana Dolores has established herself in recent years as one of the most unique voices on the Catalan artistic scene. Actress, playwright, stage director, poet and videographer, she develops an interdisciplinary practice that brings together literature, performance, video essay and sound art. Her stage work has stood out for its constant desire to transcend the boundaries between languages and to incorporate critical thinking into the artistic process.

In the literary field, he has published the poetry collections Bijuteria , awarded the Amadeu Oller Prize in 2020, and I SI UNA NACIÓ DESFALANT PER UNA CATIFA VERMELLA –catalan requiem– (2023). At the same time, he has developed an audiovisual career with pieces such as LIMPIEZA (2020) and MISS UNIVERSO (2021), while in theater he has written, directed and performed such recognized productions as JUANA DOLORES, mossa diva per a un movimento assembleari (2019) and HIT ME IF I'M PRETTY o la princesa moderna (2022).
