A feast of perspectives on the act of sharing

A feast of perspectives on the act of sharing

The table ceases to be a mere meeting place and becomes the focal point of an artistic reflection on memory, coexistence, and everyday gestures in "Arts of the Table," the new group exhibition presented by La Balsa Arte in Medellín. Conceived from an idea by Ana Patricia Gómez, the gallery's director, the exhibition invites the public to explore the symbolic universe surrounding food, from its preparation to what remains after the feast is over.

Far from focusing solely on gastronomy, the exhibition offers a broad perspective on the spaces and rituals associated with food. The dining room, the utensils, hunting, conviviality, the remains of the plate, and the organisms that transform what we discard are all part of a visual narrative that turns an everyday act into an artistic and cultural experience.

The exhibition brings together artists represented by the gallery, local artists, emerging talents, and pieces from Ana Patricia Gómez's personal collection. The result is a large, shared table where different languages, generations, and disciplines coexist, establishing a dialogue between sculpture, painting, installation, and conceptual art.

Among the featured pieces is Bananoise , an interactive sound sculpture created by Jorge Barco in 2026. Measuring just 5 x 5 x 20 centimeters, the work synthesizes the experimental nature of an exhibition that invites interaction with objects and a rethinking of the relationship between art, food, and sensory experience.

Artes de la mesa can be visited at La Balsa Arte between June 4 and July 23, 2026, consolidating itself as one of the most unique collective proposals in Medellín's cultural programming during this period.

The exhibition brings together works by Jorge Barco, Felipe Bonilla, 3vrtx, Julián Burgos, Gregorio Cuartas, Sergio Ferro, Isabel Gómez Machado, Astrid González, Priscilla González, Juan David Henao, Ana María Jiménez, Ramón Laserna, Paulo Licona, Laura López, Radenko Milak along with Roman Uranjek, Fabián Orozco, Martha Lucía Ramírez, Ernesto Restrepo Morillo, José Sanín, Rodrigo Spinel, Daniel Spoerri, Carlos Tobón, Catalina Toro, Beatriz Uribe Vélez, Juan Camilo Uribe, Marta Elena Vélez, Ana María Velásquez and Nicolas Wills, configuring a broad panorama of contemporary views around one of the most universal rituals: sitting down at the table.
