Until July 12, the French city of Arles is hosting a new edition of La Embajada, the program aimed at promoting contemporary photography produced in the context of Spanish territory within the European circuit. The initiative, promoted by Plataforma Fotografía e Imagen with the support of the Ministry of Culture, celebrates its third consecutive presence in Arles this year with a collective exhibition integrated into the parallel circuit of Rencontres d'Arles, the most relevant photography festival in Europe.

The exhibition brings together the works of Aida Lechugo, Alba Ruiz Lafuente, Antonio Guerra, Joel Jiménez, Jorge G. Higuera and Paula Artés, six artists who offer a plural perspective on contemporary photographic practices that are developing today in Spain. The exhibition is presented during the opening week of the festival and reinforces La Embajada's desire to project new voices and languages of current photographic creation internationally.

  • Work by Paula Artés.

The participating artists were chosen through a public call for entries from over 200 projects by creators born or residing in Spain. The selection was made by a top-level international jury made up of Christoph Wiesner, director of Rencontres d'Arles; Elisa Medde, director of Foto Colectania; Kim Boske, director of residencies at FUTURES; Mathieu Asselin, co-founder of Doubledummy, and Shinji Nagabe, visual artist and participant in the first edition of La Embajada in 2024.
