Until July 30, the Espai Barri Vell in Girona presents the new collective exhibition entitled Salt, light and tramuntana , which was inaugurated on June 11 at 7 p.m.
The new exhibition is made up of works by artists who are linked to the theme of the Mediterranean. According to the director and co-founder of the Space, Roger Trilla i Jané, "this exhibition is a celebration of summer and the three elements that characterize it, which are: salt, light and the north wind."
The theme of salt is represented by the painting of Shirin Sahbá (Barcelona), which is born from the sustained observation of the Mediterranean. Her work is made on nautical wood, where salt is what remains when everything evaporates.
The works that refer to the theme of light are those of the painters Danilo Fernández (Cadaqués) and Narcís Forés (Girona). And, finally, the artists HUBO and Judà Muñoz work from abstraction on the theme of wind, reproducing the stone beaches and the coves and pebbles of any beach in the Alt and Baix Empordà.
For its part, the publishing house Apart Ediciones from Verges (Baix Empordà) exhibits its original screenprints by the brothers Josep and Ramon Moscardó and Jordi Santacana.
All these works are inspired by the study by Dr. Conxita Rojo, a general practitioner from Port de la Selva, which she published in 2003 on 300 people from Alt Empordà and in which she was able to verify that their behaviors change with the appearance of the wind and the tramuntana.

Two parallel exhibitions
In parallel with this exhibition, you can also visit the Girona il·lustrada exhibition by Neus Ponsatí (Girona) at El Forn Casal Independentista, from June 23 to September 30, 2026.
This exhibition brings together a total of eleven plates by Ponsatí that refer to the city, to emblematic spaces and to others that are not so emblematic of Girona, with the main objective of highlighting the Catalan territory, its traditions and its mythology.
The second exhibition is Mar de fusions by Raquel Arias (Barcelona), from June 18 to September 30, located at A4mans, the restaurant of chefs Edgar Quesada and Junghyun Kim. Raquel Arias' maritime series speaks of the Mediterranean transformed into matter and pictorial gesture. Arias works with acrylics and textures on canvas, exploring water in its various forms. It is worth highlighting the Mediterranean blues of her paintings and the works she presents in this new exhibition, which are born from the sensations evoked by her immersions in the sea.
It must be said that Mar de fusions is the first chapter of Omplim d'Art la Ciutat , a new initiative by Espai Barri Vell which, according to Trilla, responds to the idea that "one of our main missions is to bring contemporary art outside of conventional spaces in the art world, such as restaurants and bookstores."
