The Girona en Moviment solidarity dance festival reaches its tenth edition this year, consolidated as one of the most unique cultural and solidarity initiatives in the country. To celebrate this first decade of its history, the organization has promoted the publication of a commemorative book-object that captures the spirit, memory and human dimension of a project that has managed to unite dance, social commitment and community.

The publication, created with the participation of bonart and designed by Manel Gràvalos, was presented in the Courtyard of the Casa de Cultura in Girona, coinciding with the celebration of International Dance Day. The event brought together institutional representatives, artists, collaborators and the public linked to the festival in a meeting marked by the recognition of ten years of cultural activity with charitable purposes.

Promoted by the Cultura en Moviment Association and the Oncolliga Girona Foundation, the festival was born with the aim of raising funds to help people with cancer and their families, while bringing contemporary dance and other performing arts closer to the public. The tenth edition of the event will take place from July 2 to 5 with a new program of shows, educational activities and participatory proposals.

Of the commemorative book —of which 500 copies have been published— its format as a book-object, conceived as an artistic and testimonial piece, stands out. The publication recovers the origins of the festival, gives voice to its promoters and protagonists and vindicates dance as a tool for cultural and social transformation.

The volume includes texts and reflections from the people who have made the project possible over the past ten years, as well as a wide selection of images from the Great Dance Gala and other emblematic moments of the festival. The photographs, signed by Beto Pérez, Paula Fernández, Alba Muriel and the El Beso Photography tandem —formed by Manel Díaz and Maria Silva—, build an intense and sensitive visual memory of an initiative that has turned culture into a space of shared solidarity.
