Joan Fontcuberta arrives at Casal Solleric with Wunderkammer , an exhibition that can be visited until July 5 and is curated by Iván de la Nuez and Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta. The proposal confirms the presence of one of the most influential creators of contemporary art today, awarded with recognitions such as the National Photography Award and the Hasselblad Award.
Based on the historical concept of the Wunderkammer —the Renaissance cabinets of curiosities that brought together natural, scientific and artistic objects— Fontcuberta constructs a visual narrative that transcends traditional categories of knowledge. The exhibition is structured as an immersive journey where the pieces dialogue between science and fiction, blurring the boundaries between reality and representation. The visitor moves through a space where the gaze is constantly questioned and where the taxonomy of the world seems to be dismantled to be put back together.

This game of perceptions is part of the larger universe that the artist has called the Fontcuberta Galaxy , a network of interconnected projects that explore the construction of the image and its capacity to generate truth or deception. In this context, Wunderkammer functions as a centerpiece that articulates a temporal and conceptual journey that extends from the age of dinosaurs to Darwin's evolutionary theories, turning the exhibition into an experience between the documentary and the fabulous.
The project's projection transcends Palma and also unfolds in Llucmajor, where the Toni Catany Foundation will host The Milky Way. Portraying Trees , expanding the dialogue between art, nature and photographic representation. This territorial expansion reinforces the idea of a creative universe in constant movement, where each exhibition acts as a fragment of a broader story.

In parallel, Fontcuberta will also present Orquídeas y Macarras on May 2 at the Xavier Fiol gallery in Palma, as part of the Mallorca PhotoFest program promoted by Art Palma Contemporani. The exhibition proposes a visual reflection on the relationship between marginal bodies and the morphology of orchids, establishing a suggestive contrast between urban aesthetics and the botanical world.
