Jordi Martoranno presents in Girona an unprecedented exhibition focused on a unique artist's book

Since last Thursday, March 19, the Mosaic Art gallery of Girona, presents the last work by the Girona artist Jordi Martoranno (Girona, 1965), which brings together a selection of works and has as its central axis an artist's book, a unique, unpublished piece.

According to the gallery's director, Carme Simón, "this exceptional work establishes a dialogue with three paintings by the artist — Blue Zone, The Temple in the Ear and The Eyes of the Night — which unfold the same visual universe. Inspired by the myths of Prometheus and Pandora, the exhibition proposes a reflection on knowledge and its consequences" and adds "faithful to his pictorial language, Martoranno develops an abstraction built from fields of color and essential geometric shapes. His compositions suggest invisible structures and subtle relationships between perception, memory and the cosmos".

This exhibition is completed with a selection of small-format works available during the exhibition period.

Martorano, established artist

With a consolidated artistic career spanning more than three decades, Jordi Martoranno has developed a career with exhibitions and projects in several European and North American cities.

Martorano is graduated in Beautiful Arts to the Faculty Saint George from the University of Barcelona (1983-1988) and obtained a master's degree in graphic design from the Polytechnic Institute of Higher Education of Barcelona. He has also carried out artistic residencies in Paris, Toulouse, Ustka (Poland), New York, among others. His most recent exhibitions have been shown in places such as the Vila Casas Foundation, Pigment Gallery in Barcelona, Espai Tònic in La Bisbal d'Empordà, etc.

With this exhibition, the Mosaic Art gallery wants to reaffirm its commitment to the dissemination and promotion of contemporary creation by Catalan artists, offering a meeting place between visual art and artist's books. It should be remembered that this gallery recently opened its doors as a new space dedicated to art and directed by the illustrator and gallerist Carme Simón and Josep Capdeferro.
