Bernardí Roig's work is distinguished by a profound exploration of the presence and identity of the object and being. Through a refined and poetic aesthetic, the artist combines sculpture, painting and installation to provoke reflections on fragility, time and memory. His works often incorporate everyday elements transformed into symbols, where texture, surface and light become narrative instruments that invite the viewer to a sensorial and contemplative experience.

The exhibition [NO] Taking the Head off the Mallorcan sculptor and multimedia artist Bernardí Roig extends its stay at the Espai Isern Dalmau in Barcelona until Saturday, March 28. An initiative of the Lluís Coromina Isern Foundation and the Miguel Marcos Gallery, which brings together a selection of recent videos by the artist (1965) alongside the installation El Cap de Goya (2020).

Solitary bodies confront their limits, trapped in the circular repetition of action. In this insistence without apparent purpose, a tension of resistance and a persistent desire is concentrated, even if the meaning seems to fade away. Each work tries to give form to what escapes: the gaze, the desire, the identity, the flesh that persists despite denial. These moving images move with an almost compulsive obstinacy, ineffective but unstoppable, irrational and indomitable; even in minimal actions, such as the urination gesture.

A characteristic of Bernardí Roig is his ability to create subtle dialogues between objects and space, giving each piece an almost sculptural presence that transcends decorative function. His work combines formal rigor with an intense emotional charge, reflecting universal concerns such as loneliness, vulnerability and ephemeral beauty. This balance between concepts and materiality makes each work a living testimony to the passage of time and the complexity of human experience.
