The Casa de Cultura Les Bernardes of the Girona Provincial Council is hosting a block of exhibitions that brings together some of the most prominent names in contemporary realism until May 16, 2026. This cycle, under the generic title Aire , offers a unique opportunity: for the first time, Antonio López Torres, María Moreno and Antonio López García share the same exhibition space, allowing us to explore the creative and generational connections that have defined their artistic trajectories.

The block's main exhibitions include Light, Space and Time , featuring works by the three artists, and Living Geology. Old Skin. Living Crust , dedicated to Modest Cuixart, featuring previously unpublished work that explores his artistic universe. The artist's widow, Victòria Pujoldevall, has noted that the exhibition coincides with Cuixart's centenary, making it especially relevant.

The artist Antonio López García (1936) has visited Girona to present his works and has highlighted that the meeting of different generations in the same museographic context allows us to appreciate more fully the coherence and singularity of contemporary Spanish realism. This movement, which emerged at the end of the 20th century and is still in force in the 21st century, is characterised by the extreme representation of reality, with textures, lights, shadows and reflections reproduced with great precision, often incorporating symbolic, conceptual or social reflection elements.

The exhibition offers a selection of works that show the decisive influence of Antonio López Torres on later generations, while also evidencing the profound sensitivity of María Moreno and the constant research of Antonio López García. Despite their individual differences, the three artists share a firm commitment to direct observation, light and the representation of space, essential elements to understand reality from a sensitive and rigorous perspective.

The tour highlights the ability to transcend mere objective representation, turning light and time into true protagonists of their works. The selection includes landscapes, interiors and particular visions of the world, reflecting honest, meticulous work deeply linked to the personal experience of each creator. This first joint presentation thus allows a more complete reading of contemporary realism, which these artists have contributed to renew and project internationally.

The decision to hold this artistic meeting in Salt, a municipality characterized by its diversity and a complex social context, reinforces the commitment of the Aire bloc to cultural decentralization and the accessibility of first-class art. Hosting the joint work of these three references for the first time not only recognizes the relevance of this project, but also highlights the connection between the territory and cultural proposals of great heritage importance. The exhibition thus becomes a meeting point between artistic excellence and a living, plural and transforming community.
