The l'Escorxador Exhibition Hall of the Museu de l'Empordà hosts until March 29 an unprecedented look at the work of Jordi Puig, in a retrospective that covers more than three decades of his artistic career. The exhibition, entitled Jordi Puig no és fotograf , curated by Jordi Falgàs, proposes a different reading of his practice, moving away from the traditional concept of photography to highlight his ability to generate images loaded with meaning and reflection.
Through a careful selection of works spanning from the late 1990s to the present, Puig reveals a sensitive and introspective gaze, where each image becomes a space for dialogue with the viewer. His work seeks not only to capture the visible, but to evoke emotions and deeper questions about reality and perception.

Recognized for a deeply personal and immediately identifiable style, Jordi Puig moves away from the conventional notion of the photographer as a recorder of reality, to position himself as a creator of his own visual universes, charged with meaning and reflection. This retrospective offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in his artistic evolution, discovering how each image, each frame and each light express a unique view of the world around him.
Visiting the exhibition is like entering the universe of Jordi Puig, an immersion that allows you to grasp his unique and reflective perspective. The curator of the exhibition, Jordi Falgàs, underlines the need for this retrospective. On the one hand, it is important for Puig himself, as it offers him “a global vision of his work and his contribution over more than thirty years of his profession”. On the other hand, it is essential for the public, since, in a world saturated with often banal, superficial and narcissistic images, “it takes even more value to stop and realize that there is professional work, elaborated with intention and meaning, like what Jordi Puig does”.

According to Falgàs, the exhibition is, in essence, "a vindication of this craft, of this art that is photography", an invitation to recognize the depth and dedication behind a work that transcends the simple image to become experience and reflection.
