BORDERS: Adriana Lestido's perspective between poles and homes
Rolf Art presents CONFINES: From Antarctica to the Arctic , a previously unseen temporary exhibition by Adriana Lestido (1955, Argentina), an emblematic figure in Argentine photography. The exhibition brings together her first film project, Errante: La conquista del hogar (2019-2020), with a carefully curated selection of images from her celebrated series Antarctica (2012), creating an unexpected dialogue between two extreme geographies.
Lestido, renowned for her sensitive exploration of human connection, solitude, and the female experience, here shifts her gaze to the vastness of nature, simultaneously investigating the strength and fragility of life. The exhibition invites visitors to traverse her visual universe by following a single gesture: passing through the polar silence and the seasons of daily life, and interpreting both projects as complementary chapters of the same investigation.

In his journey through Antarctica and the Arctic Circle, Lestido doesn't merely record climatic conditions; he pursues a persistent question: what can nature reveal about immensity, life, and death through the austerity of the landscapes and the desolation of the territories? In Antarctica, vastness and silence confront humankind with the absolute; in *The Conquest of Home*, that same austerity is fragmented into stations and diaries, becoming an intimate mirror where the landscape functions as an archive of transformation. The south reveals the radical nakedness of the absolute, while the north offers the rhythm and cadence of the seasons, which name the inner world. Together, these perspectives trace an affective cartography, where the extreme poles cease to be distant territories and become metaphors for existence: the inhospitable and the intimate, the exterior and the interior.
